Our Lab

The Future Classroom Lab Active represents an innovative learning environment established at Ticaret Odası Middle School in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, subsequent to the Future Classroom Lab (FCL) Project, a collaborative initiative involving 18 EU countries and 34 Ministries of Education facilitated by European Schoolnet.

FCL Active is dedicated to fostering active learning among students by reevaluating the roles of pedagogy, technology, and the design of flexible learning spaces within the classroom context. The academic staff at FCL Active has been engaged in extensive research on contemporary pedagogical practices, educational technologies, and innovative learning scenarios over the past two years. This initiative has also involved 15 teachers who have participated in various professional development courses offered by the Turkish Ministry of Education, universities, and the European Schoolnet Academy.

The current activities and workshops at FCL Active are tailored for lower secondary school students aged 10 to 14, as well as educators from all levels seeking to enhance their knowledge and experience concerning innovative learning environments. 

The technology supported flexible learning zones at FCL Active facilitate effective and enduring learning experiences through methods such as active learning, blended learning, inquiry-based learning, game-based learning, and the application of multiple intelligence theory, all in alignment with constructivist principles. The overarching objective of the activities and applications conducted within the lab is to cultivate an active learner profile that empowers students to solve real-life problems, make choices through inquiry, take responsibility for their learning both independently and collaboratively, and communicate effectively within a team-oriented context.
